Two months ago, Mr. C (59 years old) suffered a head injury due to a household accident. In the following weeks, he occasionally experienced mild dizziness, but since the symptoms were brief and not severe, he assumed there was nothing serious and did not seek medical attention.
About three days before admission, he began to develop weakness on the right side of his body, which progressively worsened. Upon arrival at Tam Tri Nha Trang General Hospital, he was drowsy, slow to respond, and had right-sided hemiplegia.
A brain CT scan revealed a left chronic subdural hematoma measuring approximately 2.5 cm in thickness, causing a 14 mm midline shift to the right and subfalcine brain herniation — a life-threatening condition if not treated promptly.

The medical team immediately conducted a consultation and performed emergency surgery to relieve the brain compression and evacuate the hematoma.
After approximately four hours of surgery, the patient showed remarkable improvement. He became more alert, and his motor function recovered significantly. After just one day of treatment, he was able to walk almost normally again.
???? Chronic subdural hematoma is a complication that can develop weeks or even months after a head injury, particularly in older adults. Common symptoms include headache, dizziness, confusion, weakness or paralysis of the limbs, and memory impairment.
⚠️ Do not underestimate head injuries, even when no immediate symptoms are present. Timely medical evaluation and follow-up can help detect serious complications early, preventing long-term health consequences and preserving neurological function.
