NEARLY PARALYZED ON ONE SIDE, WALKING AGAIN JUST 24 HOURS AFTER SURGERY

For the patient’s family, perhaps the most memorable moment was not when the doctors announced that the surgery was complete, but when they saw their loved one able to stand up and walk again.

About two months ago, Mr. N, 69, sustained a head injury in an accident and received conservative medical treatment. One month later, weakness on his left side developed and gradually worsened. As his mobility deteriorated severely, his family brought him to Tam Tri Nha Trang General Hospital for examination.

MRI results revealed a chronic subdural hematoma over the right cerebral hemisphere, measuring more than 3 cm in thickness. The hematoma compressed the brain and caused a midline shift. After evaluating his condition and consulting with the family, the medical team decided to perform decompressive surgery to remove the hematoma. 

Then, just 24 hours after surgery, a remarkable improvement became evident. Mr. N regained better mobility, was able to stand up, and began walking again.

Three days after surgery, he was discharged from the hospital.
