EMERGENCY MIDNIGHT C-SECTION WELCOMES TWIN BABIES: THE TEAMWORK BEHIND A SAFE DELIVERY

Admitted to the hospital in the middle of the night at 34 weeks and 1 day of pregnancy, a mother carrying twins faced a critical obstetric emergency. Her membranes had completely ruptured, with one baby in a breech position and the other lying transverse. Even more urgently, one baby's lower limb had prolapsed into the birth canal. Recognizing the serious risks to both the mother and her babies, the medical team at Tam Tri Nha Trang General Hospital immediately performed an emergency cesarean section.

The surgery was carried out promptly and successfully. Two baby girls were safely delivered, weighing 1.9 kg and 1.7 kg, respectively. Their healthy first cries brought immense joy and relief to both their family and the medical team.

Immediately after birth, the newborns were thoroughly assessed by the Neonatology team. While their mother was recovering from surgery, the babies' father was guided to practice Kangaroo Care (skin-to-skin contact), helping keep the infants warm, support their early adaptation to life outside the womb, and strengthen the bond between father and babies from their very first hours of life.

At the same time, the Human Milk Bank at Tam Tri Nha Trang General Hospital promptly provided donor breast milk, ensuring that both babies could receive early feeding, tolerate milk well, and maintain stable health. With close monitoring by the Neonatology team and appropriate newborn care, both infants recovered well and did not require admission to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
